Bring Your Own Turkey – 2020

Our event is now fully topped-off and we have no more capacity to accept any further Turkeys. Sun Wah BBQ patrons are AMAZING.

Sun Wah BBQ will indeed be open Thanksgiving Thursday, November 26 starting at 9:00am and closing at 5:30pm. The dining room will be closed, but carry-out is expected to be busy for those picking up orders from our carry-out menu and those who have previously arranged their BYO Turkeys.

How do I submit my own turkey?

Sorry, with a week before the initial submission deadline, all 100 roasting slots have now been claimed by fast-acting patrons. No further BYO Turkeys will be accepted and all of the restaurant-supplied Turkeys have also been purchased.

What’s left??

Sun Wah BBQ should have a supply of Chinese barbecue items emerging from our kitchens throughout our Thanksgiving hours. If you’ve missed out on the Turkey event, consider starting a new tradition with our Hong-Kong Style Roast Duck or Roast Pork.

What’s in store?

Sun Wah BBQ will maintain all safe, social distancing procedures despite all the activities expected for a Thanksgiving; The rear kitchen will be creating entrees for carry-out. Every available roasting chamber will be creating our signature Chinese BBQ items in addition to the Turkeys. The front kitchen will be keeping up with noodle soup & congee orders. The carry-out counter will be fielding new orders and fulfilling take-outs.

For BYO Turkey patrons, arrive around your designated pick-up time. Remain at the entrance door and identify yourself to staff about your Turkey order. This will minimize further contact with additional staff and patrons. Pay for any remaining balance. The freshly roasted Turkey should be waiting for you, but please be amenable to delays during certain time slots. The Turkey is packed in a transport box to prevent it from rolling around inside your vehicle. A portion of gravy from the roasted drippings accompany each bird. Turkeys are sent out whole so that carving can take place at home.

Seeking a reheat?

Out of the restaurant, our BYO turkeys are ready to eat. If reheating is desired:

  • Preheat a conventional oven to 375ºF (190ºC)
  • Remove turkey completely from the transport box and place on a roasting pan
  • Roast in oven for no more than 30-45 minutes. Do not overcook!
  • Remove from oven and let turkey rest for 5 minutes before carving
  • Enjoy!

Beyond the turkey

Don’t forget to order some additional items to complete your feast. Stir-fried Chinese Broccoli, Beef Chow Fun, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Honey-Pepper Short Ribs, Hot Sour Soup, Egg Rolls, etc. Sun Wah BBQ will also have a listed selection of wines, beers and cocktails available for carry-out.
