New Year’s Eve closes out 2023 and falls on a Sunday this year. Sun Wah BBQ will maintain normal business hours where our carry out counter opens at 9:00am and dining room starts service at 10:30am. Final seating will be at 8:30pm with the kitchen closing promptly in that time. We’d like to thank our all our devoted patrons for helping to make Sun Wah BBQ a Chicago mainstay.
Christmas 2023 – Holiday Hours
Christmas Day falls on Monday, December 25 for 2023 and as routine scheduling for Sun Wah BBQ, the restaurant will be open limited hours. Starting at 8:30am, carry-out service begins at our front counter. Dining room opens at 10:30am. While reservations (have typically been and) are expected to be fully booked, some space may be left for walk-ins with the understanding there may be quite a wait. As of this posting, all tables from 3pm forward are completely taken. Our dining room’s final seating is at 4:30pm. The carry-out counter finishes service at 5:00pm.
Christmas EVE 2023
For Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24, 2023, Sun Wah BBQ Restaurant will hold regular business hours where the kitchen closes at 8:30pm.
December 10, 2023 – National Lager Day
The official day to recognize the style of beer that makes up the majority of Asian beers falls on Sunday, December 10 in 2023. Sun Wah BBQ obliges with its stock of lagers from Tsing Tao, Chang, Kirin, and Lucky Buddha.
November 23, 2023 – Thanksgiving Hours
Sun Wah BBQ had limited hours for Thanksgiving Thursday in 2023. Carry-out counter opened starting at 8:30am. Dining room service began at 10:00am with final seating at 4:30pm. Advance reservation is always recommended as walk-in wait times may start tickling the 2-hour mark — or not available at all if it shoots beyond the 4:30pm final seating. Walk-in carry out orders may also take considerably longer to fulfill on this busy day.

Sun Wah BBQ will be open Labor Day Monday under its normal business hours. Doors open at 9:00am for carry out. The dining room begins service at 10:30am. Final seating is scheduled for 8:30pm.
